The Buildings & Grounds Department, working in concert with other MGH staff, departments, and facilities, will assist in providing a safe, functional, effective, and comfortable environment -
with a special focus on maintaining a fire safe environment – for patients, staff, visitors, and guests of the MGH for both the Hospital and the Research Community.
Our goal is to execute the department’s mission of providing an Environment of Care that is central to carry out the MGH mission of delivering high quality care, advancing biomedical research, and educating future academic and practice leaders of the health care professions.
STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The Buildings and Grounds Department is under the Director of Buildings and Grounds. It is the responsibility of the director to ensure that the department operates as efficiently and effectively as possible, works cooperatively with other hospital departments toward achieving its goals and objectives and those of the hospital, and meets the applicable standards and regulations of the accrediting and licensing bodies. These responsibilities will be assumed by the department’s Operations Managers in the absence of the Director or as the Director delegates them.In carrying out these responsibilities, the Director of Buildings and Grounds is directly accountable to the hospital chief executive office, through a reporting relationship with the Senior Vice President for Operations/Administration.
