  • American Lung Association’s Quit Smoking page: Facts about smoking, secondhand smoke, and lung disease including emphysema and lung cancer.
  • Massachusetts Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Program (MTCP): Part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Check out this website to find resources about quitting smoking.
  • Craving Journal to print out, fill out, and identify triggers. interactive
  • Find other Quit Smoking Resources here including links to other websites as well as information on specific medications and therapies.
  • Freedom from Smoking Online: The American Lung Association’s free online smoking cessation program. The program consists of 7 modules that guide you through the process of quitting and give you strategies to stay smoke-free in the future. interactive
  • Health Effects of Smoking: Information on diseases caused by tobacco use, such as cancer, heart disease, and respiratory diseases. Also find information on the health effects of smoking during pregnancy.
  • Quit Smoking Community Site: Blog posts, discussion boards, news, images, videos, and other means of support to help you quit community support
  • Smokefree.gov allows you to choose the help that best fits your needs. You can get immediate assistance in the form of: An online step-by-step cessation guide, Local and state telephone quitlines, National Cancer Institute's telephone quitline and instant messaging service, and publications, which may be downloaded, printed, or ordered. interactive
  • Smoking and Tobacco Use from the CDC is very comprehensive and provides a great summary of resources for the public
  • Smoking Cessation: Ready, Set, Go!: This page provides you with some of the basic information you need to make a decision to stop smoking and some places to get help. article
  • Smoking Cessation Products: A list of the FDA-approved smoking cessation products including nicotine replacement products (skin patches, chewing gum, and lozenges) and products not containing nicotine (Chantix and Zyban). article
  • Try-to-Stop is a web-based support program sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. interactive
  • When it comes to quitting smoking, many people find online bulletin boards helpful.  If you're interested in participating in a bulletin board community, here are three good places to start:

    • Oprah's Stop Smoking Support Board: Popular discussion board providing information and support. community support
  • Women and Tobacco: Fact sheet on the number of women who smoke in the U.S. with stats on health outcomes including mortality.
