Jennifer Barinas, BS, is a clinical research assistant in the Behavioral Medicine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Tufts University in 2010 where she wrote her independent study thesis titled "Active Substance Use and Social Support among HIV-positive Minority Women Receiving Substance Abuse Treatment." Her research interests include health disparities, the psychosocial effects of chronic disease, and culturally responsive mental health treatment. She is currently assisting Dr. Steven A. Safren on the study called “Efficacy of CBT for Depression and Adherence in HIV Care Settings.” Jennifer plans to pursue graduate school in the in the field of clinical health psychology after her time at Massachusetts General Hospital. Heather Bemis , BA, is a research assistant in behavioral medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Williams College in 2009 and is currently assisting Dr. Joseph Greer with his study "Brief CBT for Anxiety and Cancer" and Dr. William Pirl with his studies "Symptom Management Trial in Cancer Survivors" and "Collected Repository of Symptoms." Her clinical and research interests include quality of life improvement for people with cancer and chronic illnesses, which developed from her undergraduate work with cancer patients as well as research involving childhood peer relationships and discrimination. Matthew Carper, BA, is a research assistant in the Behavioral Medicine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. He received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Boston University where he wrote his honors thesis on barriers to the dissemination of computerized cognitive behavioral therapy. His research interests include mood and anxiety disorders, increasing access to mental-health services for underserved populations, and computerized treatment and assessment. Matt currently works with Dr. Steven Safren on his study “CBT for Depression and Adherence in Diabetes”. After his time at MGH, Matt plans to pursue graduate school in clinical psychology. Meghan Groves, BA,
is a clinical research coordinator in the Behavioral Medicine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her bachelors degree in Psychology and Hispanic Studies from Connecticut College in 2009. She currently works with Dr. Steven Safren and Dr. Susan Sprich on the study “Compensatory Executive Functioning Skills Training in Adolescents with ADHD.” She plans to pursue a Master of public health degree following her work at Massachusetts General Hospital. Sony Mysore, BA, is a clinical research assistant in the Behavioral Medicine Program at Massachusetts General Hospital. She received her undergraduate degree from New York University in 2009, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Nutrition. She is primarily working with Dr. Steven A. Nicholas Perry, AB, is a clinical research assistant in the Behavioral Medicine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. He graduated with honors from Vassar College in the spring of 2010, where he received his bachelor’s degree with in psychology. He is primarily working with Dr. Steven A.
