 Dr. C. Andres Bedoya is a staff psychologist in the Behavioral Medicine Service at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is also an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Bedoya’s research and clinical interests involve addressing psychological disorder and/or chronic illness in underserved populations. He currently specializes in addressing cultural competence in clinical research with Hispanics/Latinos, including those living with HIV and illicit substance use.
Dr. Bedoya completed his doctoral training at the University of Miami in clinical health psychology. His clinical and research training focused on applying cognitive behavioral interventions with minority and chronically ill groups. Through the University of Miami, he additionally received a certificate in bilingual and bicultural counseling. He interned at the Boston University School of Medicine’s Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology where he received further training on the interplay of race, ethnicity and culture within underserved populations, including lower-income families and the severely mentally ill. His interests include addressing disparities in mental health within minority groups through mixed-methods research and intervention development.
