Summary
Science
Features
The mission of the Neuroscience Statistics Research Laboratory focuses on mathematical modeling of physiological systems in three areas. These are the development of:
- signal processing algorithms to study how individual neurons and ensembles of neurons encode information about relevant biological stimuli;
- signal processing algorithms to characterize learning in behavioral experiments;
- statistical methods for analysis of functional neural imaging data. The experimental work in the Laboratory focuses on developing a systems neuroscience approach to studying the mechanism of action of general anesthetics.
The long-term clinical implications of this research are the development of site-specific anesthetic drugs and more principled, neurophysiologically based methods for monitoring the brain state under general anesthesia. |
