Grant Funding
Stellar scientific breakthroughs often begin with expensive resource investments. The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine successfully bids for competitive grant funding from both private and public sources.
In 2007, DACCPM research laboratories received a total of $14.3 million in grant funding, of which $11.3 million came from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition to NIH funding, we have support from several foundations, among them the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research (FAER) and the William F. Milton Fund.
Finally, royalty funds serve the department by contributing to research training and endowments for Harvard Medical School professorships.
