Summary Science Features

Over the past several years, the clinical research activity of the Division of Critical Care has focused on topics related to patient outcome, the implementation of quality assurance and disease prevention projects.  Examples of these lines of research include:

• Retrospective analysis of relatively large number of data collected by the hospital electronic databases.
• Prospective observational and interventional studies that test non- experimental interventions.
• Interventional studies aimed at decreasing the incidence of complications characteristic of patients in the ICU, such as hospital- acquired infections.
