Back Pain Relief from an Unlikely Place

Christopher Gilligan, MD

Christopher Gilligan, MD, director of the Center for Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, was recently featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams to discuss the benefits of spine cord stimulation.

According to Dr. Gilligan, back pain "interferes with sleep, can lead to depression, interferes greatly with relationships, and takes away a person's ability to do what they do and what defines them." Spinal cord stimulators are a possibility for those whom surgery or pain medication are not options.

Mass General's Center for Pain Medicine provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for individuals with acute, chronic, and cancer-related pain. Learn more about the center and its services.
