Department Holds Clinical Research Day Awards
Four faculty members and fellows received awards at the second DACCPM Clinical Research Day Awards ceremony on June 11, 2010.
Dr. Yandong Jiang, chief of the awards committee, gave introductory remarks, and department chief Dr. Jeanine Wiener-Kronish presented the awards. Each winner then gave a brief overview of the research project.
The winners were:
- First place (faculty): Dr. Edward Bittner for "Severe postoperative hemodynamic events after spinal anesthesia: Incidence, contributing factors, and consequences." Dr. Matthias Eikermann accepted the award on behalf of Dr. Bittner.
- Second place (faculty): Dr. Susan Wilcox, for "Use of muscle relaxants is associated with improved laryngoscopy grade and decreased complications during emergent intubation"
- First place (fellow): Nicolas de Prost, for "Changes in cysteinyl-leukotrines during and after heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass in COPD and non-COPD patients"
- Second place (fellow): Demet Suleymanci, for "Unidirectional Breathing Pattern Improves the Breathing Efficiency in COPD Patients"
