Department Participates in Healthcare Expo
The Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine sponsored a table at this year's Partners Health and Fitness Expo.
At the expo, approximately 14 members of the department distributed information and answered questions on pain management, advanced care planning and emergency preparedness.
Department representatives also gave "health chats" small, informal conversations taking place in a casual, one-on-one setting on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.
On Saturday at 1 p.m., Sharon Brackett, RN, gave a talk on Advanced Care Planning, and on Sunday at 3 p.m., Dr. Ed George hosted one on emergency preparedness.
"The Expo gave the department the opportunity to interact with a large number of people," Anesthetist-in-Chief Dr. Jeanine Wiener-Kronish said. "Anesthesiologists need to participate in community programs to document our role in pain medicine and critical care (disaster preparation), as well as in perioperative care."
Dr. Wiener-Kronish said several people stopped by the DACCPM table and came to ask questions when she represented the department at the "Ask the Physicians" booth.
