DACCPM Fellows Win Awards in Poster Competition
On June 8, 2009, two fellows from the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine won research awards from the Mass General Center for Faculty Development during the 4th Annual Research Fellow Poster Celebration.
The annual event was organized by the Mass General Office for Research Career Development and aimed to showcase the achievement of Mass General research fellows in various areas, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer biology, diabetes, neurological and metabolic disorders, HIV, and tissue engineering. More than 60 posters were presented from research fellows, clinical fellows and residents, and graduate students. The merit of their research was judged on its significance, approach, and innovation.
The DACCPM winners included:
- Poster of Distinction (1st prize): Lin Zou, for "Toll-like receptor 2 plays a critical role in cardiac dysfunction and high mortality during experimental sepsis"
- Poster of Excellence (2nd prize): Yan Feng, for "Innate immune adaptor MyD88 contributes to ischemic myocardial injury and modulates neutrophil function and chemokine receptor expression"
Both award winners are fellows from Dr. Wei Chao's research team. The ongoing projects are a collaborative effort among three research groups: Dr. Wei Chao and Dr. Fumito Ichinose from the DACCPM and Dr. Marielle Scherrer-Crosbie from the Cardiology Division/Department of Medicine.
