Professional Activities
My focus is Interventional Pain Management. This new area in medicine focuses on minimally invasive treatment options for chronic pain conditions and spinal problems. Advantages of these treatments include excellent risk/benefit ratios, short post procedure recovery time, and decreased cost of care when compared to more invasive surgical approaches.
My research projects focus on clinical outcomes, imaging, and technical aspects related to interventional procedures. I previously pioneered research on functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of human brain in pain states and participated in research projects utilizing psychophysical methods and Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) to study pain.
