Mock Oral Exam

The mock oral examination replicates the oral examination format that all graduates must take to complete their ABA board certification. Mass General has five active oral board examiners who administer practice exams to all residents during their clinical training. This experience serves to familiarize residents with the structure and format of the oral exam process.

In addition, the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Mass General hosts a more formal mock oral examination session each year on a Saturday morning in March. This session gives rising residency graduates and fellows an opportunity to practice with board examiner officials who will present questions in a format similar to the oral board exam to an examinee and later provide them feedback and strategies for success. Residents and fellows have found this session invaluable in helping them prepare for the exam as it closely simulates the real exam in every detail.

The 2014 Mass General Mock Oral Examination will be held on March 15, 2014 from 7:30 to 11:30am on the Mass General main campus. Dr. John Ryan, a former oral board examiner, will oversee the examination process. Residents and fellows from all greater Boston hospitals are welcome to enroll.

To enroll, please complete the following by March 10, 2014:

  1. Provide your demographic information by completing the 2014 Mock Oral Exam Registration
  2. Send a non-refundable payment of $50.00, made out the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine, to:
