Grand Rounds at DACCPM are an integral component of resident education. Scheduled once a week on Thursday mornings from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m., Grand Rounds feature in-house experts, invited lecturers, leading scientists and special guests who discuss a wide-range of topics.
Often, lectures are scheduled so that a given topic (an anesthesia subspecialty or a physiologic system) is covered in consecutive lectures over the course of several weeks. Over the course of the year, the entire spectrum of anesthesia and its related sciences are presented (e.g., Autonomic Nervous System, Pain and Subjective Response, Fluid and Electrolyte Balance, the Law and the Anesthetist). Lectures are given by faculty from Mass General, Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as national and international guest lecturers.
