CA3 Research Elective
The CA3 Research Fellowship allows residents to develop skills required to pursue a prestigious clinician-researcher career path. Many opportunities exist for residents to undertake research projects in their CA3 year. Interested residents declare their intent to pursue research by July 1 at the beginning of the CA2 year. A formal research proposal is submitted by September 1 of the same academic year. Selected research trainees receive mentorship, resources, and ongoing support as they pursue their desired research interest. In order to preserve clinical skills during the six-month period of clinical or laboratory investigative experience, research residents will still fulfill all ABA and ACGME residency requirements while continuing to take call in the main operating room.
