Harvard Medical School Trauma & Critical Care Symposium

Mass General Center for Pain Medicine

Monday Chronic Pain Rounds at the Ether Dome & Inpatient/Cancer Rounds

Mondays, noon – 1 p.m. Conference Directors: Ronald Kulich, Ph.D. and Shihab Ahmed, MD

This conference is a multi-specialty, broad-spectrum program. There is an average of 30 attendees, consisting of physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and other health care professionals. This program carries a Category 1 CME status through Harvard Medical School and is thus geared towards a clinician-scientist audience, but all interested are welcome. The goal of this program is to present the most up-to-date information on pain medicine in the hope that this enhanced knowledge will lead to better clinical practices for patients in pain.

Our team of world-renowned pain experts drives the content and presentation of the educational material for this conference. Built into the program is a monthly clinical case presentation that is presented by one of the Mass General Pain Fellows.

Additionally, once per month, the rounds are devoted to inpatient/cancer pain topics. Mass General Center for Pain Medicine Fellows are assigned a topic relevant to cancer pain to present a short didactic. The fellow then may lead the group in case discussions of some of the most challenging and terminally ill patients in the hospital, to help manage their care and pain needs better. Fellows are clinically involved with the cases that they present.

Tuesday Interventional Conference

Mondays, 7:00 – 8:00 a.m.
Conference Director: Christopher Gilligan, M.D.

Invited guest lecturers present expertise in procedures from other clinical perspectives, such as neurosurgery, orthopedics, and radiology.
