Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Specialized anesthesiologists attend to the 31-bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), where patients are stabilized immediately following surgery and some invasive procedures. Patients are typically transferred from the PACU to a specialized nursing unit customized to aid in recuperation for a specific type of surgery.
Certain patients undergoing minor procedures may not require the sophisticated monitoring available within the PACU. Additionally, patients undergoing complex surgical procedures can be transferred immediately to an intensive care unit with the specialized staff and equipment to provide optimal treatment given the individualized treatment plan created for the patient.
