Growth Hormone Suppression in Adolescents Following Oral Glucose Load
This study investigates the extent of growth hormone (GH) suppression in healthy girls and boys, ages 9 to 17 years, following an oral glucose load. Standards for GH suppression do not currently exist for children. This study will help establish normative data for GH suppression in healthy children and will aid in the diagnosis of conditions of GH excess. The study involves a single outpatient hospital visit lasting 4 hours, at no cost to the participant, and includes hormonal evaluation and blood draws. Remuneration of $75 and free parking at the hospital is offered.
