Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr., Event
January 10, 2003
Early
on a Friday morning in January, members of AMMP and the Massachusetts General
Hospital (MGH) community gathered to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. While it was cold outside, the mood was warm and inviting inside,
as 88 people listened intently while Eliot Battle, Jr., M.D., keynote speaker
at the event, praised Dr. King, and spoke about how Dr. King's life and lessons
paved the way for his own success and the success of many others. A former MGH
fellow, Dr. Battle is now an assistant professor at Howard University in Washington,
D.C., and an internationally recognized researcher in the field of dermatology.
Former MGH president James J. Mongan, M.D., and current president Peter Slavin,
M.D., were honored for their commitment to AMMP and to supporting diversity
throughout MGH and Partners HealthCare.
Keynote speaker
Dr. Eliot Battle, Jr.,
talks with MGH President
Dr. Peter Slavin.
