Dr. Morrow is a research scientist in the Massachusetts General Hospital Schizophrenia Research Program and a Clinical Fellow in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
He received his SB from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in molecular biology and his MD magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School in the MIT-Harvard Division of Health Science and Technology. Dr. Morrow also earned a PhD in Genetics from Harvard University. His PhD dissertation focused on the genetic regulation of neurogenesis and synapse formation. His research has been published in several peer-reviewed publications, including in the journals Nature Genetics, Cell, Journal of Neuroscience and BMC Neuroscience. Dr. Morrow completed his clinical training in psychiatry at McLean Hospital and the MGH, where he was the Chief Resident in Psychopharmacology. During his training he received several awards including the NIMH Outstanding Resident Award and the Thomas P. Hackett Award for research accomplishment and promise.
Dr. Morrow is actively involved in genetics research in the MGH Schizophrenia Research Program with a focus on the genes that regulate cognition and brain development in schizophrenia. The laboratory component of Dr. Morrow’s work is conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Christopher A. Walsh, a neurogeneticist at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Morrow thereby continues to pursue his longstanding scientific interest in brain development, now with application to psychotic disorders. His hope is that this research will ultimately help improve diagnosis and perhaps identify novel drug targets. In addition, Dr. Morrow is an Assistant Editor at the Harvard Review of Psychiatry. He is also currently co-editing a book on brain development and psychiatry entitled Frontiers inBiological Psychiatry of Childhood: Exploring the Relationships Among Genes, Brain Development and the Emergence of Psychopathology.
