Simultaneous Treatment with Lisdexamfetamine added to Stable Doses of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) Antidepressants for Adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Comorbid with Major Depression

The purpose of this research study is to find out whether a stimulant, Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse), can be used to help treat ADHD in patients with comorbid ADHD and MDD. This study looks to treat ADHD in patients who are currently receiving stable SSRI treatment for Major Depressive Disorder. We are currently enrolling participants who are not currently experiencing symptoms of depression but are experiencing symptoms of ADHD.

After an initial screening visit, which lasts about 3 hours, participants will be started on open-label, no chance of receiving placebo, 30mg/ day of Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse). The study involves 6 visits weekly after the screen and baseline visits. The dose of Lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse) may be increased by 10mg or 20 mg each week based on the study doctor’s clinical discretion up to 70mg/ day. After participants complete the study they will be offered 3 months of follow-up care at no cost at the Depression Clinical and Research Program.
