Lawrence T. Park, MD
Lawrence T. Park, MD, is Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, he is Director of the Acute Psychiatry Service at the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital. He also holds the position of Associate Director of the Somatic Therapy Unit in the Department of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Dr. Park earned his BA in Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in Madison, WI. He attained an MD at the University of Wisconsin Medical School. While in medical school, Dr. Park became interested in medical anthropology and took time off to pursue an AM at the University of Chicago, Committee on Human Development. While there, he spent time in mainland China researching mental illness. After medical schhol, he completed a transitional medicine residency at Carney Hospital/Boston University in Boston, and went on to finish his residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital Adult Psychiatry residency training program. After residency, he completed fellowships in Consultation Psychiatry and Psychoanalytic Studies.
Dr. Park authored and co-authored numerous articles and chapters concerning medical anthropology, biological psychiatry and electroconvulsive therapy. His current research involves predicting antidepressant response using quantitative EEG, clinical trials for agitation in the emergency department and using PET to predict ECT response.
