Jennifer Lafayette, M.D.

Dr. Jennifer M. Lafayette is the Interim Director of the Acute Psychiatric Service at Massachusetts General Hospital, and an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lafayette received her medical degree from University of Vermont College of Medicine. Her psychiatry residency training was completed at Massachusetts General Hospital and McLean Hospital. She was also the chief resident of the Acute Psychiatry Service at Massachusetts General Hospital.

She was the recipient of the American Psychiatric Association Kempf Award, for potential to succeed in psychiatric research. Her current research activities include a study of the staff responses to working with victims of the Rhode Island nightclub fire tragedy, as well as an evaluation of the factors that contribute to length of stay in psychiatric emergency rooms.

She has a published a number of original articles, reviews, and book chapters including most recently a case study examining the impact of patient's suicide on psychiatric trainees, in the Harvard Review of Psychiatry.
