Maurizio Fava, MD
Maurizio Fava, M.D., is Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. He is Associate Chief of Psychiatry for Clinical Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Director of the Depression Clinical and Research Program at MGH.
Dr. Fava received his M.D. degree from the University of Padua School of Medicine in Italy and completed residency training in endocrinology at the same university. After moving to the United States, he completed residency training in psychiatry at MGH.
His research activity focuses on short and long-term strategies in the treatment of depression and depressive subtypes. He has been successful in obtaining funding for his program, as Principal or Co-principal Investigator, from both the National Institute of Health and industry for a total of more than $140,000,000 in the past ten years. Dr. Fava is also a well-known speaker and author, having given more than 200 presentations at national and international meetings and having authored or co-authored more than 140 original published articles.
